034 Motorsports rear anti-swaybar
The 911 is going to get a top end rebuild near term and if it happens during the Auto-x season I'm looking at my options. I can trot out the ancient Spitfire which will be a lot of sideways fun, but will not be able to get on pace unless I fit it with slicks, and even then.. or see how the Audi holds up. This seems like the better option, but I don't want to do anything too racy to my 'grownup car'.
Speaking with some other competitors (Audi drivers), theirv reputation is that they generally understeer into corners so you really need to go in slow and then use the AWD to come out hard.
When I picked out the S-Line, part of that calculus is that the 4-cylinder would be cheaper to maintain, but the other benefit is that it is lighter than a V6 or V8. That should help a bit in theory at least. The S-Line essentially has S5 suspension bits; it rides 20mm lower than the standard coupe, uses stiffer springs and shocks and wears the big 19" rubber on S5 wheels. It also has big 320mm brakes, even though they don't get painted.
The B8/8.5 chassis don't have real adjustments for camber and caster up front. You can set the toe, and that's about it unless you buy aftermarket suspension pieces. The rear is similarly limited, although even moreso with just an eccentric to make minimal toe adjustments. It's a real shock to the system compared to a 911where everything has an adjustment (for better, or for worse)
My stock 2014 understeered a lot by my standards, so I needed to get more weight transferring at the rear. I did not have lots of options thanks to the lack of adjustment.
Fortunately the folks at 034 Motorsport made a rear bar for folks like me. It is designed to work just fine with the stock suspension but give you more roll stiffness and better balance.
It's an easy install (unless your bracket bolts are rusty (hi!) and honestly the results are all I couild have hoped for. The car is much more poised in corners, understeers a lot less and feels fantastic. As far as I am concerned this is how they should have come from the factory.
